Treatment
The first image we see if of a girl's hands frantically typing on a computer keyboard. The hands stop momentarily to press the play button. Rock music begins to play as she gets ready for school, we see small snippets of her routine, her facial expression is distant, vacant and detached. The camera pans over her room, it looks like any average teenage girl's room but there are objects that seem out of place, a year book comes into shot, the faces of the students are scratched out and scribbled over. We see her pulling on a dress and then a cardigan, making sure her wrists are covered. We then see small clips of her applying dark eye-make-up and pale foundation, then a silver necklace, as she reaches for the necklace the camera follows her hand and a razor blade comes into the shot, placed in a mess of jewelery. We never see the whole of her face, as some of it is always in shadow, looking as if she is hiding. As she walks out of her bedroom and slams the door, the music stops.

Pitch for Title Sequence
My film is called Vermilion, it centres around the life of main character Billy, a teenage girl from London. Billy is the outcast at school for the way she dresses and acts, her class-mates bully her and push her over the edge, throughout the film we see hints of Billy's failed suicide attempt. Billy takes out her anger in an online blog, making up dark and twisted stories about her peers, in which they are tortured, and eventually killed. As the story progresses her class-mates mysteriously disappear. We gradually learn that a serial killer is the reason for their disappearances, he has been using the stories from Billy's blog and made them reality. In the end Billy finds out who he is and informs the police. Throughout the story Billy is batteling with her inner hatred for the bullies and what she knows should be done. This is an original idea for a film, and will be targeted at teenagers. Many teenagers have blogs, so they will feel some connction to this film, also many teenegaers have at one point or anoher felt that they don't fit in, they will feel empathy for Billy. I think this will be a sucessful film, a lot of teenagers enjoy watching thriller films.

Inspiration
Vermillion: when found naturally occurring, is an opaque orangish red igment, used since antiquity, originally derived from the powdered mineral cinnabar. Chemically, the pigment is mercuric sulfide, HgS, and like many mercury compounds it is toxic. Its name is derived from the French vermeil which was used to mean any red dye, and which itself comes from vermiculum, a red dye made from the insect Kermes vermilio. The word for the color red in Portuguese (vermelho) and Catalan (vermell) derives from this term.

Pretty in Pink opening sequence
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHZ14e1k2uM
This opening to Pretty in Pink is very similar to the one i aim to acheive. A teenage girl getting ready in the morning, applying makeup, putting on clothes, and going to school. This is the perfect example of what i want my opening titles to look like.
